Singapore Amateur Football Association (SAFA) was established in 1892 which believed to be the oldest football association in Asia. Its underwent into a name change which is known as Football Association of Singapore (FAS) in 13 January 1966 and the name still remain until today. SAFA participated in Malaysia Cup since the establishment of HMS Malaya Cup in 1921 and also participated in Merdeka Cup since the establishment of Merdeka Football Festival in 1957.
